Dearest friends and patrons of Utilitarian Workshop,
It is with a heavy heart, yet sincere optimism we announce the closing of our public retail operation at 1659 Summit in Kansas City Missouri. We have enjoyed your support in our mission to offer a creative venue dedicated to locally based designers and commerce. The last 12 months have seen our design/build/brand services expand into exciting new avenues. Having completed concepts for Second Best Coffee and Thou Mayest Coffee Roasters, UW is thrilled to be a part of Kansas City’s renewed focus on local development. The upcoming year will include new concepts and spaces from Heirloom Bakery & Hearth, Port Fonda and more!
Our retail shop will continue to operate normal business hours through the final weekend of July 2014 (open Fridays and Saturdays 11am-7pm, and Sundays 12-4). We will continue to offer exclusive, hand-made goods through a series of seasonal pop-up shops featuring multiple artists and makers.
Our first pop-up shop event at 1659 Summit will take place the first weekend of September (5th-6th).
The lineup will include:
We will have coffee and cold brew from Thou Mayest and small bite goodies from Heirloom Bakery & Hearth.
It has been an incredible experience getting to know so many new faces while representing a talented roster of makers. We look forward to what comes next for us, and from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you all!
